A common jibe aimed at applied epistemologists is 'stupidity'. This arises from a formula I have mentioned elsewhere but is worth repeating:

1. Applied epistemologists will disagree with people by dint of their training.
2. People can disagree with one another for a number of reasons.
3. Only one of these reasons cannot be readily dealt with:
4. 'One arguer is more intelligent than the other.'
5. If it isn't the non-applied epistemologist...
6. It has to be the applied epistemologist.
