Bosch is a great name when it comes to small consumer durables like, for instance, e-bikes. They go to enormous pains to ensure theirs are safe and street-legal in all respects. Their top o' the line models costs several thousand pounds and are (to me) unaccountably popular.
As you might imagine, theses supabikes do visually resemble e-motorbikes in various respects. Bells and whistles and all that sort of stuff. The Birmingham police regularly stop Bosch-cyclists who are riding legally because they think an e-motorbike is being ridden illegally.
| Hilarity all round when explanations are exchanged? |
No, Brummie plod always lends a deaf ear, confiscates and then destroys the Bosch. As they are fully entitled to do--are enjoined to do--if it were an e-motorbike being ridden illegally. Eventually the West Midlands Police Authority might get round to paying out compensation to the tearful owner but it seems to make little difference to life on the Birmingham street.
